The school was founded by the Jesuits in 1854 in Havana, Cuba. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year and has grown tremendously over the last five decades. Currently the enrollment is nearly 1,400 male students in grades 6- 12.
Every year the scholarship fund provides financial aid to over 300 students; distributing in excess of $1.8 million. We aim to ensure that any male who qualifies and exemplifies qualities of a good student not be deterred from attending Belen Jesuit Preparatory School due to financial hardships.
